Miracle March 👇🏼

After a VERY dry season here in Tahoe, we were really hoping for one last good powder day before it was time to hang up our boards for the year. After February its really a toss up as to whether we get any more significant snow, but the hope is always to end the year with a Miracle March- aka multiple snow days in March!

Last week the forecast called for multiple feet of snow and THE SNOW GODS DELIVERED! We got 50in of fresh, light, cold snow in the span of one week and we got to ride TRUE powder conditions for the first time all season. I can’t explain the pure euphoria I feel when I’m floating through the trees and trying new runs and jumps that I would NEVER do in normal conditions. It was one of those days that will live in my mind rent free until we do it all over again next winter!!!

Our first winter at ~home~ 🥹

This is the first winter we’ve lived in our dream home in the mountains and these past few months have been everything I could have asked for and more.

We’ve skied at the resort a least once a week, learned a new outdoor activity (backcountry snowboarding!!), watched the most beautiful snow blanket the house, hosted our friends for game nights, and watched the local bears pass through our yard every week.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would get to live in a place that inspired me so deeply on a daily basis and I tell myself at least once a day that I’m living in a dream that can’t be real 🥹

And while I could romanticize living here until the end of time - I wanted to also share a few realities because even though I love living here with my whole heart- not everything is perfect 😅

Resort town downsides 👇🏼

-the crowds!! When you live in a cool location- people love to visit 🤷🏼‍♀️ tourists and crowding are something we deal with every weekend and holiday and it never gets easier or any less stressful

-snow maintenance: snow is beautiful and all until you have to snow blow the driveway every couple of hours just to keep it clear so you can leave the house 😅

-its EXPENSIVE: seriously the price of groceries and gas is criminal up here. We literally drive an hour down to Carson city just to go to Costco and Walmart at least once a month so we avoid buying food up here AT ALL COST!

-older home: our A frame was built in the 70s and while she is SO cute and has SO much character… she also has SO many problems 😂 we are slowly going to do a full reno and our most recent project left us without hot water for a week in the middle of a snowstorm 🥲

Overall I’m so thankful for this beautiful winter at HOME (saying that still doesn’t feel real) 🫶🏼 and can’t wait to see what Spring has in store for us!!!

My kind of date 👇🏼

There is NOTHING better than waking up early, getting to the ski resort BEFORE the crowds, scoring a bomb parking spot right by the lift, and having a little breakfast date out of the back of the car!

We always keep our Subaru stocked with a dedicated kitchen set that stays in the car at all times so we don’t have to constantly pack and unpack all of our supplies for mornings like these (and potentially forget something)!

Here’s a list of everything we keep in our car camp kitchen (save to reference later!!):

- kettle

- coffee cups

- collapsible bowls
- sporks & knives

You also don’t have to have a “built out car” to enjoy breakfast out of the hatch!! Before we built out our Subaru we just kept a foldable camp table in the back and would use that to cook on :)

Low maintenance dates are our fav kinds and this one hits every time 🫶🏼

I will never understand people who stare at their

I will never understand people who stare at their bag, fully packed, in the living room for a week after they get back from a trip. My brain literally cannot function until my bag is unpacked and things are back in order and even though I was EXHAUSTED after our hut trip- it still had to happen the next day.

Since moving into our house we’ve been trying to figure out what kind of gear storage works best for our tiny space and we’ve had to get creative with where we put things 😂

While our storage method isn’t necessarily asthetically pleasing, we make sure to do it in a way that protects our gear and keeps it in good condition!

Here’s a few gear storage tips to remember

CLEAN and DRY things first
-make sure everything is completely dried out before storing it and follow all labels and instructions for cleaning your gear properly (you CANNOT just use store bought detergent on technical gear)

Store tents and sleeping bags LOOSELY
-Storing tents and sleeping bags loosely helps maintain their loft, durability, and performance. We take ours out of its compression sac and store it in the large/loose bag the sleeping bag came with. If there is ANY dampness, we leave the bag out to dry in the living room for at least 24 hours before storing.

Hang up outerwear
-keep all of your technical outerwear on coat hangers to air out and prevent any odors from brewing instead of compressing them in clothes drawers.

Store small items in a “gear bin”
-we looooove @rei trailgate gear bins for storage and organization. All of our tiny, loose items go in here so we don’t lose them and so we can easily find them for the next trip!

Ski specific
-remove all snow and ice from your skis/board and store it in a dry place! Open up your touring skins and dry them at room temperature. Once dry either place skin savers between them, or fold them over glue-to-glue.

This is the first year we have skied without a backpack and it has truly made our days on the mountain 10x more comfortable!

On resort days we don’t usually bring much because we can always go back to the car for lunch or grab water at one of the lodges on the mountain BUT there’s a handful of things I never ski without and that’s where our pockets come in!

Most ski kits have TONS of pockets and utilizing those for storing our essentials has a lot easier than I thought.

SO this is everything I carry in my pockets on a resort ski day 👇🏼

Annual ski trip UNLOCKED!

Going into our backcountry ski hut trip we had no idea what to expect. The most we could compare it to at the time was backpacking to a mountain hut in WARM conditions - so trying to plan for 4 days in the snow with all our splitboarding gear and our snow safety gear was SO new to us.

With all of our gear and layers AND food, our packs ended up weighing 37 lbs each … which was ~interesting~ to ski with that on our backs 🫣

But once we made it to the hut we got to drop all of our stuff and go make glory laps out outside our front door all day long!

Spending 4 days riding fresh pow with 10 of our good friends was one of the most incredible experiences we’ve had in a really long time. I’ve truly never felt so happy and exhausted all at once!!

Sentry and I were probably some of the least experienced backcountry skiers in our group, BUT we made sure to take our AIARE 1 class before the trip so we knew how to rescue someone in an avalanche and the basics of reading avalanche terrain.

Backcountry skiing can be SO dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing and we are so so lucky to have the guidance of the more experienced members of our group to help teach us along the way 🙏🏼

When the hut trip makes it out of the group chat!!

We just spent 4 days in the backcountry in a little ski hut in the mountains and it was the most insane ski trips we’ve ever done!

To get to the hut you have to do what’s called “skinning”, which is basically winter hiking on skis that have furry pads under them so you can grip the terrain.

We’ve done our fair share of skinning this winter BUT never with massive backpacks on 😂 both of our packs weighed almost 40lbs and trying to balance that while on skis was humbling to say the least!

But once we got there we got to drop all of our stuff and could snowboard right out our front door. The lines were endless and there was a ton of variation from low angle trees to super steep chutes.

But the best part was spending 4 days with some amazing friends where we had tons of fun riding the pow BUT we had just as much fun cozying up by the fire with endless belly laughs, good conversation, and tons of hot chocolate.

**disclaimer: backcountry skiing can be extremely dangerous. At a minimum you should take the AIARE 1 class to know how to use your safety equipment and read avalanche terrain before venturing in the backcountry**

Speechless 😶 Seeing the massive icebergs in A

Speechless 😶

Seeing the massive icebergs in Antarctica was one of the most insane experiences of my entire life. The sheer scale of them was absolutely mind-blowing. The textures, the cracks, and the layers of blue that went on FOREVER were so so beautiful.

The sound of the ice shifting and cracking in the stillness of the Antarctic air felt completely surreal. It was honestly overwhelming at times, just standing there, trying to wrap my head around the fact that these massive chunks of ice even exist?!?

Running to the roof of the ship to see what will probably be the largest iceberg of my entire life felt like one of those core memory moments where there’s just not enough words in the world to do it justice.

A true bucket list experience that I will cherish forever 🫶🏼🫶🏼
