Best hike in Joshua Tree 👇🏼

Joshua Tree National Park comes in at number 8️⃣ on our top ten national parks list!

I feel like people tend to overlook and underrate Joshua Tree, but every time we visit we find a new piece of magic ij the park that we never knew existed!

Our favorite hike is EASILY the Cholla Cactus Garden loop…. To be honest it’s not much of a “hike” as it is a scenic walk, but the magic that this little cactus garden holds is absolutely insane ✨

📍Cholla Cactus Garden Loop
🥾 0.25 mi loop
📈 10 ft elevation gain (lol)

Our favorite time of year to visit is spring- when the little cacti have flower blooms (see pic 3) & of course during sunrise aka ✨golden hour✨

Oh Tahoe 🥹🫶🏼

I have always been someone who needs change. I get bored of things and places so easily and after a while I always feel like it’s time to move on to something new.

We have always said the one place we could see ourselves actually calling “home” would be Tahoe & last November we finally made that happen.

Since then I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop… I’ve been so afraid that the one place we loved the most would prove to follow the same trend of boredom and being ready to move on.

But the crazy thing is that Tahoe has had the complete opposite effect. Every single day we spend here we fall more and more in love 🥲

We have been here for 6 months now and it is officially the longest we’ve stayed in one place in over 8 years 🤯

I can’t believe I’m saying this - but it feels like we might have found our forever 🏠 in Tahoe!

***Although - we will probably live in the van forever here because we can’t afford to buy a real home in Tahoe 🫠- baby steps 😂***

Best hike in Yellowstone ⬇️

Yellowstone National Park comes in at no. 9 in our top ten National Parks list! It is wildly unique, and has something for just about everyone.

By FAR our favorite trail is the brink of the lower falls trail. It has incredible views of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and watching tens of thousands of gallons of water plunge over the falls PER SECOND is the coolest experience!

Hike Details:

📍Brink of the Lower Falls Trail
🥾0.8 mi out & back
📈 600 ft elevation gain/loss

The trail is short and sweet with a steep set of switchbacks DESCENDING down 600ft in 0.4 miles. Coming back up is the hard part though. Throughout the hike there are various benches and break spots so you can take your time on the steep terrain.

The steepness of the hike deters a lot of people from doing it, therefore having the falls to yourself is quite possible- especially in the early mornings.

FUN FACT: Yellowstone’s Lower Falls is over DOUBLE the height of Niagara Falls 🤯🤯

8 years in the making 🥲

circa 2016 from our very first backpacking trip together- backpacking the entirety Shenandoah National Park section of the Appalachian Trail 🥹

to now- living in a van while backpacking and climbing mountains all OVER the U.S. & the world 🥲

I couldn’t be more grateful for the life we’ve built (and that we truly had a glow up lol)

Which one are you 👀

It took us 18 hours, 16 miles, 7,000 ft elevation

It took us 18 hours, 16 miles, 7,000 ft elevation gain & loss, many blisters, a few tears, and one hell of an adventure for us to finally be able to say that we stood on top of the Grand Teton!

& a LOT went wrong ⬇️

-We started at midnight & neither of us had slept,
-Sentry got really sick from altitude,
-A storm rolled in just as we reached the summit,
-We fell asleep by the river on the way down,
-I blacked out just one mile from the finish,
-&&& once we got back to the van we still had to find a place to sleep that night

All of this mishap & yet it is still one of my fondest mountain memories to this day!

Soooo ready for more days like this this summer 🥹💪🏽

Best hike in Canyonlands ⬇️

I just released my top 10 National Parks & now I’m going over my favorite trail in each- starting with park #10 Canyonlands-

📍 Mesa Arch Trail
🥾0.6 mi loop
📈 60 ft elevation gain

Mesa arch is a short & sweet hike to a cliff edge arch that frames the desert towers & the La Sal mountains ✨perfectly✨

Due to the short distance, this is a VERY popular hike and it is always COVERED up midday. Highly recommend going at sunrise. There will still be the sunrise crowd but it will be much less than the mid dayers.

Sunrise etiquette:
- Reduce noise, talk softly (if at all)
- Turn the shutter “click” noise off of your camera
- The arch is small do DON’T go stand in the middle of it right as the sun bulb rises
- If you’re there w your tripod, don’t go set up in front of other people just wanting to watch the sunrise
- Respect others, we’re all there for the same thing!
